It’s big. It’s warm. It feels very tough. You will look more intimidating (not what I wanted, but there it is). I got fed up with cheap things not working right and giving out after a year. So I bought this. It’s a bit costly, for my budget.

I’m 6’2″, 300 lbs. I wear mostly 3xl, sometimes 4xl. I bought the 3xl jacket. There is some room to spare, but the fit is very good. It is long enough, and I can move easily in it. It is bulky and sweeps things off counters and tables as I pass by. It is warm, quite warm. The exterior feels almost like canvas. Brand new, it is fairly stiff. The hood is stiff, and I had to persuade it to stay down. Again, I assume time will ease the stiffness somewhat. The interior is soft flannel. Waist and wrists have elastic to keep snow out, but they do not chafe. Overall very comfortable. It has a plasticky, painty scent that I assume will fade with washing. Strong metal zipper. Two pockets are inside, one zipper the other velcro. They are each big enough to hold my Kindle. This looks like an excellent jacket. I will update if anything surprising happens.

I’m sending this back because the material is so stiff and hard. It seems to be very good quality, warm, and durable and it’s not ugly. If you need something quasi- bulletproof, this might be the coat for you.

I’d call this a ‘heritage coat,’ as the quality is so very wonderful, these are often handed down from father to son. This was a dream of my sons for a long time. It was a most wonderful holiday gift. We are having a very cold winter throughout much of the US. It keeps him toasty even on the long walks he’s fond of. It would take a lot to sustain any damage to it as the materials used are of the highest quality. It’s great for a date, even better for hard work. I will never regret buying this for my dear son. And it is just so flattering for any man to wear. He loves it and I love it that he’s so over the moon. Carhartt is a long-honored brand for a reason!

I’ve used Carhartt products for years. Never have an issue. This jacket is water resistant, quilted and very warm. Make sure you measure yourself for the size chart. Jackets are a little big.

Cheapest price I’ve found for these this year. My fiancé was in need of a new coat and mentioned carhartt to me, I searched for a couple months. Finally got this and it came so fast and is perfect. Definitely a little big for a medium but most carhartt loose-fit items do run a little bigger, I’d recommend small if you normally wear a medium in shirts and want a tighter fit. He says it’s perfect however, great for wearing layers underneath and very warm!

I bought this coat for my boyfriend. He loves it. It fits him great. It is his work jacket and he said it keeps him nice and warm when he’s working outside in the cold. Looks good. Zipper works as it should. And it’s comfortable.

This is an amazing jacket. I needed a nice, heavy winter jacket for the cold and windy coastal Santa Cruz weather after moving to college, so I wanted something that would keep me warm but also look cute. This jacket is exactly what I wanted. I get compliments almost every time I wear it and now all my friends want one!
    Pricing:
I don’t usually spend more than $30 on clothing, but I really wanted this jacket, so I decided to splurge a little. Plus, Carhartt is a reliable brand, so I know it will last me a very long time. I looked into a few other brands (Dickies, Patagonia, etc.), but I felt that Carhartt was a better fit for what I was looking for. I considered getting a jacket from Dickies ($139.99) that was close to identical, but I decided to go with Carhartt ($109) because not only was it more cost-efficient, but it seemed warmer and more stylish as well.
    Pros:
The jacket is nice and warm without being too heavy and goes with almost any outfit. I also love that Carhartt tends to look even better with a little wear and tear over time, unlike some other brands. This way I don’t have to treat it like a new pair of white shoes and be worried about getting a little scuff or dirt on it. It is extremely durable, so if that’s what you’re looking for, look no further!
    Potential Cons:
You should be aware that when you first get the jacket it may feel bulky and tough, but it is easy to break in. I washed it a couple of times according to the instructions on the tag and it is much better now. It was a bit big on me (as I was expecting), so I threw it in the dryer after I washed it and it did shrink a little bit, but definitely not too much. For reference, I am 5’2 and 110 lbs and I got the mens small. It is still a little big on me even after shrinking it, but that’s exactly what I was aiming for. The zipper can be a little sticky at times, but it hasn’t been a big issue for me so far. One thing you should know is that it is not waterproof or water-resistant. I wore it in the rain once and the water soaked right through the outer shell. Still not a problem for me though! Just thought I’d mention it.
    Overall:
Overall it’s an amazing jacket and is one of my favorite clothing items that I own. I don’t know how I went all this time without it! High quality, plenty of pockets, comfy, warm and stylish. I definitely recommend getting this jacket!

Purchased this jacket for a Big&Tall gentleman, and it fit perfectly. The quality of the material is superior, nice and thick but soft. Very durable exterior and will make for a great outdoor work coat.

This is the legendary J140 Active Jacket, made in the US from imported parts. It’s a superb jacket, very well made and warm.

A couple of points to note – this is not the same as the Active Jacket sold from the official Carhartt store here in the UK.

That version is slightly different to this J140 – compared to the UK store version, this does not have –

3M Thinsulate lining, so less bulky than the J140
Hidden rib knit cuffs with cordura reinforced sleeve
The hand pockets are not lined
The hood drawstrings are external instead of internal
Washed duck instead of firm duck which is unwashed so is more stiff when new.

If you like what Carhartt have done with the update, then buy the newer version, if you prefer the OG, then this is for you. I wanted the OG so purchased this over the newer version.

I will start by saying carhartt products generally fit one size larger. I normally wear a medium jacket, i ordered a size small and it fits perfectly.
The jacket looks great, its durable, and warm. Because its such a thick material its definitely stiff when its new, this changes over time as you work it in. Same goes with the zipper, its heavy duty so it requires some elbow grease to zip up when its new. Tip, pull the bottom of the jacket down when you zip up, it just works.
Dont base your opinion on the jacket in the first week or two of wearing it, wear it and let the materials soften etc. this type of jacket will last you many years.

5/5 product, i would recommend it to anyone considering. Worth the money 100%
